For the price it is a good place. The staff is always willing to answer questions or going to find the answer for the families. The room is sparse and furniture was provided. The food is decent. The dining room is somewhat small.

No structure. Residents just sitting around. Staff on cell phones. Old facility needs updating. Do not recommend.

Appears to be reasonable cost and benefits.

I wasn't impressed with the furnishing of the common area of the house.

My loved one lived in this community briefly. It was a nice enough place, it was clean and the staff were friendly. It ended up not being a good fit for her, the environment just didn't mesh well with her, and it was a bit too far for family to visit as often as she'd like.

Convienient location. Clean. Cheapest $2,100/mo. Director intimidating. Self absorbed. Staff not so friendly on the phone.

My tour was very informative, and this place appears to suited to my mom's needs.

The activities really need a huge improvement, one of the reason we chose this community was because of the activities. However they have gone through some internal changes in management and now the activities are non existent and our loved one is very social.

Based on 5 stars, I would give it 2 stars. My family and I feel they are understaffed and geared toward residents that only require Level 1 care. I would not recommend for anyone who is not fully capable of caring for themselves. This place is not truly a "memory care facility".

When we came for our tour everyone was just sitting around in the hallways and not doing much. The furniture was extremely old and it was not updated at all. It was also not as clean as I would have liked to have seen it. I could not recommend them based on what I saw.

Not enough staff for memory care unit...Not enough staff in general...

NO SMOKING AND VERY DREARY

This place is depressing as soon as you open the front door. It smells bad and you are faced with a lobby full of people in wheelchairs, half of whom are asleep. My husband entered Shangri-la with our expectation that he would be well cared for. He has Alzheimer's and the staff mis-led us as to their capability to care for Alzheimer's patients. There were almost no activities for the dementia patient. The staff is small and not geared to handle dementia patients, especially those who wander. Therefore these patients often are off some where on their own and can get into trouble. Despite being assured that they were able to care for my husband with his proclivity for wandering, our family was asked to remove him after 8 short weeks because they could not care for him. Shangri-la it's not!

I would not recommend that place to anyone. My dad deteriorated in less than 30 days and is now fully contracted and bed ridden! Bill needs to be fired and that place shut down! They started a snowball that turned into an avalanche!

staff: some staff were kind and engaged with residents while others were argumentative and less compassionate activities: a few activities like bingo and a weekly singer food/dining: many of the meals appeared to be prepackaged or frozen foods room/apartment size: rooms were a very good size but evidence of mice and outdated furniture We were given 30 days notice after only having our loved one there for 40 days. There was no communication or willingness or support in finding any solutions. Considering this facility claims to be a place with dementia care - there appeared to be very little understanding or care about a resident newly entered with dementia.

I toured recently. The director sat at her desk with a soda in one hand and chips in the other and would not tour me until she was done eating. It seemed that 3/4 of the rooms were empty. The place was like a ghost town. Last year, a friend of me told me the place was run very well and was full. I don't know what happened, but I am not impressed by the new executive director. I'm assuming thats who it was, that is what she told us. Someone else called her the manager. She said she was managing Paradise and Shangri la. The other staff seemed very nice and caring.

Of the six communities we visited, Shangri-La was the least attractive, and clearly two steps below the others in quality. The facilities needed new paint, the floor plans were outdated, and the place had a depressing feel. I could not imagine leaving a loved on at Shangri-La, when there are many better options available at the same cost.

Very small and run down, smelly. First thing you see is a dumpster! Room layouts are a little odd. Residents mostly seemed depressed. Manager was very personable and helpful, just not a good facility.

Hated this place! To many things to mention, I could not wait to get out of there.

I visited a cousin two weeks ago and was horrified by what I saw and smelled. The room stank of urine, which was likely due to the backlog of laundry left in the room and the wet, unchanged bedding. None of the nurses seemed to know what was going on or what the treatment protocol was for multiple bedsores (though the manager was happy to lie through her teeth, first saying there were nor sores and then insisting they were on top of managing them. If I had power of attorney, my cousin would not be there.
