Very much like Signature Senior Living. Exclusive kosher menu would be a problem for my mom.

Bad Oder!

Lake Shore AL is relatively inexpensive and the admin staff is very good but overall there could be improvements. My relative was not there for a long period of time and when you walk in there is a somewhat unpleasant odor and it is stronger than other assisted living places I've been to. Also, when my relative was speaking to an aide and asked a question the aide responded, " look don't give me a hard time". This was disturbing that an aide would speak this way to an elderly and vulnerable person so overall not the best experience.

A Work In Progress

My mother in law is doing alright here at this community. I do think they could do a better job with the cleanliness. The community isn't very appealing, it could looks better. I not totally satisfied with the care they are providing her with. It is still a work in progress for us here.

Excellent Medical Care

The people there seem wonderful. The medical care is excellent. It is very clean. The only negative I would say is that they need to hire more aides to help people. They also need to update it a little more so it is aesthetically pleasing.

My sister & I fell in love with the administrator, Dhalia - she was great. Unfortunately, this wasn't the right fit for my independent dad. Residents required greater assistance.

Good care for the price

Things have gone fine at Lake Shore Assisted Living. It isn't as high quality as some of the expensive places we looked at, it has a bit of a "nursing home" smell, it's an older building, etc. However, they seem to be on top of things when it comes to the care. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional. They also do a good job with the food. They have a good balance between the care they provide and the price, and it was a good match for what we were looking for.

Staff was very engaging and seemed nice.Wanted to try the food and was disappointed that wasn't a option. That turned us off. Also not all the rooms had walk in showers. Some of the areas needed some freshening up and updates.

It is crowded but ...it accepts medicad

My mother lived there for nearly two months . It was not the place for her. Her dementia was becoming too bad. She was found lost wandering around and confused by me a few times. Before you place your parent in any assisted living make sure they will be coherent enough to find their room, operate an elevator and can walk the distance needed. This place is very crowded and confusing for someone with bad dementria. It is a bit worn and tired looking, they really need to replace the carpeting. The staff I have mixed reviews on, most try. The activity people are very good and there are a few really nice people working there. The dining hall was a nice experience for my mother. They accept medicaid but beware they will most likely be placed in a small 3 person room. The main problem I had with the place was the overcrowding , I hate to think of a fire in this place and what would happen. But reality is there is little choices for those who can't afford the private pay only places. So really depends on your parent , I think some adjusted pretty well to it and some living there do okay.

Not impressed

We looked at this place when we were looking into options for Mom, and we were not impressed at all. The overall quality was just low, especially for the price. It felt more like a warehouse than somewhere that people would live. I wouldn't have felt comfortable with my Mom staying here.

Institutional Looking

It was a beautiful setting and location but I was not willing to leave my brother there becasue we encountered to many people that were either senile, had severe Alzheimer's or were non-communicative. I simply could not see my brother living in a setting like that. I think it was institutional looking and so did my brother. I didn't want him to be there.

Appeared to be a nice place. But too much isolation in the assisted living area and dementia unit appeared too small and restricted-we actually never saw a resident nor a occupied room-a bit suspicious.

Needs Rehab

Toured approx 1 year ago for mom. The place has a great location, mom would have loved it, however the place needs a makeover and the smell of urine was everywhere. It was very big and I saw alot of areas unattended. Now my mom is in a wheelchair so I was not worried about her being unattended. If they ever redo and fix it up a bit I will be sure to bring mom.

Very run down

The lobby is lovely. Big deal!! The rooms are run down and dirty. A relative was there. I pulled out the AC filter and found it filthy. My family member was left to sleep during the day, missed meals, laundry mixed up. Case workers were late in calling back or did not return calls. So happy he was moved to a better facility.

Stay away

It was so bad. I would give the quality of care no stars if I could, it was horrible. For instance my mom was in a shared room and they put a Alzheimer's dementia patient in with her who was a kleptomaniac. She frightened my mother and they moved her out and then after that her care got even worse. I would tell others do not moved your loved ones in here.
