I love the Grove Manor in Braintree for my mother. I was very concerned and worried about if I was doing the right thing about placing my mother in the memory care unit at Grove Manor. I soon realized how much she needed it and the care she gets is exceptional. The activities director there treats each resident as if they are her own parents. She is continually keeping them active with crafts, parties, music, etc... The staff from the receptionist to the CNA's, the nursing staff, the director and so on are wonderful people. The residence is clean, well run, organized and most of all warm hearted. I couldn't be more please with Grove Manor in Braintree, MA

My mother needed to move out of her home that she had lived in for 60 years and spent more than two years visiting possible residences. Grove Manor is expensive, but proves the saying, "You get what you pay for." The buildings are elegantly and tastefully decorated and the buildings and grounds are beautifully maintained. The residents are friendly and welcoming to newcomers. There are 60 people living in the independent living building, the Glen, which is small enough so that everyone knows your name and large enough to provide social interaction. They offer a variety of activities and trips, listed on a weekly schedule. The apartments are spacious and light-filled. There are so many services included that it is like living in a hotel, but with neighbors. The food in the dining room is consistently excellent, and the young people who serve the residents are kind, cheerful, and helpful. All of the staff we have encountered are genuinely caring and respectful of the residents.

This is a great community. We really liked this community but it was too expensive for our budget. The community is very nice and beautiful. They provided excellent care and the staff was very friendly. If money is not a big concern then I would recommend this community.

My loved one is enjoying their time here, and feels at home. This has worked out perfect for us. [name removed] was wonderful to work with, and she decided to leave. My loved one enjoys the food available. There are lots of activities available for the residents to choose from to participate in. This makes the family feel safe knowing our loved one is here.

The people are great, they are responsive to all of our needs. The new nursing director is phenomenal and they call us anytime there is ever an issue with our loved one. They really are on top of everything, we are really impressed with them and they are doing a great job during covid. All of the people we come into contact with are wonderful, friendly and accommodating.

My ( now 98 year old) mom has been there about 10 years. 1st in their Independant Living section,"The Glenn" in her studio apt there. Then around 7 years ago, needing more care, to a studio in "The Grove" section . Now in the "Woodlands" section for Alshiemers & others, needing more care. I can't say enough good things about them. Cost varies widely depending on which section & which accomedations within those sections. ie 2 bedroom, 1 bedroom or studio.

The deciding factor for us when it came, time to choose the best place for our mom, was the size of Grove Manor Estates overall - it's small enough to feel "homey," and not overwhelming. The generous room size of a studio apartment was also a factor, in addition to the variety of rooms available. The staff are friendly, know us, and make everyone feel welcome. We also like that it's family owned rather than part of a bigger corporation. The food and activities offered are as expected.

[Name Removed] is the first person that I would like to mention I feel like he does go above and beyond to make sure he answers every question he's always available and that really made a difference for us. Next would be [Name removed] he's the RN and always made sure to follow up with me when [Name removed] was in and out of the hospital or rehab. Lastly, [Name Removed] I don't know her exact position, but she checked also on [Name Removed] while she was in rehab and in the hospital and made sure that I was kept up-to-date with anything I needed to know.

Staff generally very good, especially the nursing staff. Medication management excellent. Activities varied and interesting but some residents have memory loss and don't know to attend activities unless reminded in a timely manner. That doesn't always happen. Food good, especially dinner. Soups usually not hot enough. Public spaces cleanliness very good; spaces comfortable. Apartment also very clean; housekeeping very thorough. Outdoor spaces pleasant and well kept. Front porch seating delightful as are various balconies near the apartments.

The person we toured with was quite good. She gave us a nice walkthrough and showed us a couple of empty apartments and all the different common areas. Right away I thought it was quite a nice place. It was clean, and there were different activities going on.

Overall it has been a good experience. The staff seems quite good in general. The apartment is nice. My loved one had a couple of maintenance things here and there, but they were right on top of it and got things fixed quickly. And the social aspect is great. There are quite a lot of activities to be involved in.

I can't say anything too bad about Grove Manor estates except it was way too expensive. This facility is four stories and has a lot of permanent residents. River Bay Club offers similar services for $1500 less, however it is three times the size of Grove Manor. Grove Manor had problems involving our loved one in social activities or even meals in the dining room. The monthly rate here includes meals in the dining rooms, however, if you have a loved one who orders it delivered to their room there are additional charges. We would have preferred more of an effort on the staff's part to not allow for room service when our loved one needed social interaction. Beyond that I prefer the size of this community, it is just too expensive.

I came here as an Independent resident but there are many more residents with cognitive and physical issues in the apartments section that are in my area. Also, the dining room is crowded with wheelchairs and walkers. I find by my apartment to be spacious and very comfortable.

[Removed] was lovely and the building seemed nice -the secure floor seems to be an afterthought as there are no outdoor options for them (porches, etc) The memory unit is quite small and the people have quite advanced memory loss. I like that it is a family-owned business, but [Removed] made it quite clear that many people cannot stay here until end of life. I want my mom who is 93 in a place where she can live until the end of life -This is not for her.

We had a horrible experience at Grove Manor, and I spoke to someone at A Place for Mom at length about the unacceptable issues with care my mom experienced in their memory care. Grove Manor does not hire aides with expertise or training in Alzheimer's patients. Administration was punitive with my mom and were threatening with the family about my mom's behavioral issues. But her neurologists and physicians all said that what she was exhibiting was usual to advanced dementia and could be redirected and controlled. Grove Manor staff pressured us to put my mom on increased doses of sedating medication, even when the doctors did not think that was the best course of action or suggested that we needed patience with medication adjustments. They also called 911 to send my mom to the ER when she became aggressive and attempted to bite an aide. The aide did not inform nurses and my mom was sent without any accompaniment to a hospital ER, which must have been at least confusing, at most traumatic. The head of medical informed us without knowing details of the call nor where she was or what medical treatment was being given. My mom was the only independently mobile person in the entire facility and they made us feel that this was a burden for them. In fact all other residents were mostly non mobile and non verbal. I believe that they simply did not wish to do the extra work required with an active resident. My mom was evicted from the facility due to her aggressive behaviors but in retrospect I am sure that my mom's behaviors were worse because of the lack of trained and empathetic care she was getting. It was the best thing to happen, as her new facility has been wonderful and she has not had any of the same behavioral issues, proving that Grove Manor's poor staff exacerbated all problems.
